Some years ago, would be common see the majority of companies and entrepreneuers just objecting to produce in large scale, receiving large profits and market credibility, leaving alone the environmental issues.
The economic development concept wasn't related to the preservation of earthly environmental conditions, essential to humanity survival.

Today,however, there's a new tendency, by which the entrepreneuers that desire to reach positive results have to combine the image fo their enterprises to the environmental protection.This initiative of the enterprises it's not simply caused by understanding the need to keep the environment well,but also caused by obeying the environmental laws and to participate on the sustainable development.

Among these enterprises, the companies from the construction sector have expanded their buniness by the economic development of the counrty, and nowadays, the great sport events that will happen in Brazil - such as the World Cup 2014 and the Olimpic Games 2016 - will accelerate even more the work of the contractors. Many big buildings will be made on the infrastructure area, plus hotels and stadiums. Moreover, many buildings that already exist need to be adjusted or altered, which may genmaster erate a great impact upon the environment.

The consulting enterprise Mfaster Ambiental, which works on the enviromental area, informs that construction is the most striking human activity to the environment.
Alone, this sector consumes around 75% of the natural inputs of the planet, and more than 30% of the greehouse effect is due to construction activities.
LEED, developed by the U

Objecting to ease the effect, the contractor are seeking, more and more, for ways to suit themselves to the sustaibnable development concept.The called LEED, developed in the U.S., it's a certificate that has been adopted on the construction planning, to ensure that all the works are made under correct ecologic patterns.

According to Fernando Barros, civil engineer specialized in the environmental management planning, we can't project new construtions using the techniques came from the last century."That's because the LEED is an alternative to a green construction that focus on the environmental impact, eletric energy saving and water reuse", he says.

In Londrina, the Eco Market Palhano (Eco Mercado Palhano) is being built, an example of an ecologically correct construction, whi will have the LEED certificate, which means that this market will respect the environment.

The project provides the use of water came from rain and solar light; hedges; cold chamber for garbage deposit; aired environment; and also water-soluble paint will be used (which not harm the environment). According to Barros, the ecologically correct construction will bring a 44% drinkable water and a 30% eletric energy economy, through the years.

Moreover, supporting and even funding environmental projects and reforestation planning have been another found alternative by the contractors to compensate their impact upon the environment. Higino Aquino, director of intitutional development of IBFLORESTAS, affirms that, due to the expansion of contractors and developers of the construction sector, it rose the need to do environmental projects and reforestation planning to restore degradated areas and to compensate the CO2 emission. "Investing in social and environmental projects is a market rule",he mentions.
