Since the 70's, with the creation of the Brazilian Institute of the Environment (IBAMA), the discussions about the importance of the planet conservation have been intensified in the counrty. The conservation thought, characteristic in the most of the environmental movements, that searches for a development model which guarantees the today's quality of life, but which also does not destroy the necessary resources for the future generations, became a development symbol to be reached, the called "sustainable development".

However, for the effective success of this sustainable development it's necessarily needed integrated actions from various sectors of the society. Decrease of the raw material, renewable energy use, decrease of the population growth, fight against hunger, changes on consumption patterns, social balance, respect to the biodiversity and inclusion of environmental politics on the proccess of making economic decisions can only be reached with the participation of everybody.

Due to detecting the valor of these integrated actions for the success about the planet conservation, Cesar Paes Leme, an editor from Parana State and creator of the Community Network of Environmental Management, has developed environmental projects that put together the participation of various sectors of the society.

He has dedicated himself to voluntary and environmental activities for more than 30 years, and in these last 15, he has developed projects and partnerships on the environmental area. "With the support of friends, whob also want to make the world a better place, we ahve realized more than 1250 activities (lectures, meetings, workshops, embracing rivers, release of small fish, taking a walk, araucaria and riparian forest planting), and the tendency is to reach a number of 2000 realized events before 2012", he says.

Among 40 developed projects, Cesar Paes Leme has worked for more than 10 years in a project of remediating an urban river. From the sources, the work has extended to all the drainage basin. Later, it has spread to other basins of the region, and today it is replicated in many communities - in more than 150 cities. "Today, we know that it is possible, necessary and also urgent the remediation of urban rivers. It is very good to realize that more and more people and institutions are worried to the sustainability issue", he also says.

For him, working with the environment is an activity that finds results in a long term and the contribution of IBFLORESTAS, as the support of various other sectors, has been very important. When producing seedlings to be planted and spreading the need to act on environmental projects, the IBFLORESTAS acts in a way that, integrated to other actions, generates success.
